American Pet Association, for sale, partner or investor
Established 1991 High ethics & great reputation with unlimited potential
Thank you for looking at the APA. There is far more to this business than can be put into an ad, but we will do our best. Please ask for more information if you are a serious buyer.
"All of the hard work is done, and the reputation is well established. The APA just needs a partner or owner with capital and the same ethics we have established over the past 25 years" Rich Werner, Executive Director There are three potential buyers/situations for this business: 1) Name Buyer. The American Pet Association name and reputation are irreplaceable and can be used in a variety of ways. 2) The “as is” buyer. Current programs are unique, and innovative and have proven track records. A new owner can establish high income in a short time with just the existing programs and still have endless growth potential. 3) The visionary buyer. This buyer has a vision of what they want the APA to be and molds the Association to their vision, maybe using existing programs to fund this growth. Current owner would prefer to keep 25-75% of this business and consult or participate in its growth, however is willing to sell the entire business as well. Reasonable or creative offers will be considered; however, any offer will require an upfront investment. Price of Business: $200k for 25% $350k for 51% $500k for 75% $750k for 100% In some of these scenarios ownership can be increased up to 90% at milestones. Buyer of less than 100% will need to be qualified and have initial operational capitol of at least $150k. The American Pet Association is a unique business with truly unlimited potential. It is a very rare heirloom business, and for it to come on the market, especially at this price point, creates a rare opportunity for the right person or group. There are a unique set of circumstances that have brought it to this point which, while maybe not the original vision for the founder and owner, offers a new owner, partner or investor a truly incredible opportunity. The APA is also not a fad or trend business. It is a business that can not only be profitable but also truly make a difference, something most businesses would like to do, but is rarely a reality. It also can easily change with the times to remain current, relevant and profitable. Because the APA has a special and irreplaceable name, was founded 25 years ago and has maintained the highest ethics and reputation over those years, it finds itself in a respected position to work with, and service a massive $60 billion market; over 30 million pet owners, 3500 humane agencies, 100,000 veterinarians, and tens of thousands of pet businesses. Two of many programs have proven themselves viable and highly profitable with many years of statistics to draw on. (The Companion is projected to bring in $1.6m/yr after re-start) Others have had all of the groundwork laid and are ready to be launched. The Companion Program brought in a documented $426,000 with 2 people working it, often part time, and with virtually no financial investment. The organization has always been debt free, however low funding availability limited its growth, but not the innovation of its programs. In 2008/10 a health concern with the Director/Owner and the economic downturn caused the organization to slow and ultimately cease expansion. However, its 67,000 members have been serviced flawlessly 24/7 to this day. Recently, due to public demand, our APA Business and Product Approval Department has been relaunched. These programs being temporarily dormant is not detrimental for the APA like it would be for many businesses. Yes, for a landscaping company or a retail store shutting down means a loss of customers and a long road to rebuild them. This is not the case with the APA. Programs can be restarted immediately and experience no serious negatives from their temporary shutdown. In the ever changing business climate two things are still irreplaceable, a recognized name and an established reputation. The value of these alone exceed the asking price for this business. Under all circumstances current APA Approved Businesses and APA Members must continue to be serviced with the same ethics and standards as currently provided. Our non profit division, the APA SPCA, a 5013c3, will be turned over to a responsible party upon the sale of this business and the buyer will have first consideration. Reason for Selling: A health concern and inability to raise funding needed to expand.
